Beyond his athletic career, Zenga is renowned for co-founding BJJ Fanatics with Bernardo Faria and Michael Reardon. This platform has become the largest jiu-jitsu instructional resource in the industry. Zenga's background includes training under respected coaches such as Travis Stevens, Jimmy Pedro, and Bernardo Faria.
His journey in martial arts spans both BJJ and Judo, with significant achievements in Masters divisions of both sports. Zenga's contributions to the BJJ community extend beyond competition, as he continues to play a crucial role in spreading jiu-jitsu knowledge through BJJ Fanatics.
Travis Stevens
Travis Stevens is a highly accomplished American grappler, holding black belts in both judo and Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu (BJJ). Born on February 28, 1986, in Bellevue, Washington, Stevens has made significant contributions to both sports.
In judo, Stevens is an Olympic silver medalist, having competed in the 2008, 2012, and 2016 Summer Olympics. He secured the silver medal in the 81 kg weight class at the 2016 Rio Olympics, becoming only the third American male judoka to achieve this feat. His judo achievements also include gold medals at the IJF Judo World Masters (2016) and PJU Pan American Games (2007, 2015).
Stevens' BJJ journey is notable for its rapid progression. He began training under John Danaher at Renzo Gracie Academy in New York. Danaher awarded Stevens his BJJ black belt on November 19, 2013, after an impressively short period, recognizing his exceptional grappling skills and quick adaptation to BJJ from his judo background.
In BJJ competition, Stevens has participated in high-level events, including a 4th place finish at the Copa Podio Grand Prix in both 2013 and 2014. His grappling style effectively combines his judo expertise with BJJ techniques, making him a formidable opponent in both sports.
Stevens operates his own academy, Travis Stevens Jiu Jitsu Academy, in Wakefield, Massachusetts, where he teaches a blend of judo and BJJ. His teaching style emphasizes a grappling approach more aligned with ADCC rules rather than traditional IBJJF guidelines.
Travis Stevens' career exemplifies the successful integration of high-level judo and BJJ skills, making him a respected figure in both martial arts communities.
Pedro Rocha
Pedro Rocha is a Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu black belt, former Navy Officer and accomplished freestyle wrestler. He has won nine Brazilian National titles and a Junior Pan American silver medal. Pedro now co-owns a 413 Jiu Jitsu in Southlake, Texas.
Influenced by his brother, João Gabriel, Pedro asked his parents to join jiu-jitsu at the age of 4, a wish granted to the toddler, then joining coach Marcos Carvalho’s class – who graded Pedro all the way to his late teens, going on to be promoted by Marcos Carvalho with his purple belt and Ricardo Ferreira at brown.
Always active growing up, Rocha practiced a number of sports alongside his jiu-jitsu training, being particularly successful in water polo and freestyle wrestling, a sport he started when he was 17, where he conquered numerous Brazilian National titles (9) and a Junior Pan American silver medal.
By the time he was 22 years of age, Pedro was solely focussed on his sporting career, and the following year Rocha enlisted in the Brazilian Navy, quickly becoming part of the organization’s Freestyle Wrestling Olympic Program, also holding the rank of 3rd sergeant by the time we wrote this bio (Jan. 2020).
Once Rocha’s brother – João Gabriel, opened a gym in the United States, he invited Pedro to come and help him out with the new business, an offer accepted by the sergeant. The work with his sibling would lead to Pedro’s promotion to the black belt rank in July 2019, in a grading ceremony led by João.
