We have reserved the entire Gran Melia de Mar hotel, so all ticket holders must stay at the hotel. This means we will sell approximately 200 tickets, in addition to another 50 non-stay local tickets. All bookings will be managed through our "BOOK NOW" page, which redirects you to our secure payment processing partner, WeTravel. There, you can make payments via bank transfer or debit/credit card, ensuring we never access your card or bank details.
WHAT IS NOT INCLUDED IN THE FULL FESTIVAL HOTEL EXPERIENCE TICKET?
Flights and taxi transfers (15-20 min from the airport, costing €30) are not included - see our festival schedule app to post regarding flight numbers to arrange ride shares with other guests.
Dinner for the middle three nights, as well as lunch on any day, is not covered. You have the option to purchase meals at the onsite restaurant, the smoothie, and açai bar. Alternatively, you can take a short trip to central Palma (a 10-minute, €10 taxi ride) to enjoy street tapas. Numerous street cafes are also available within a 5-minute walk from the hotel.
CAN I CHOOSE MY ROOM?
First come, first served! The top two floors are considered the best, though in terms of size (excluding the suites) and features, all rooms in the hotel are identical. EVERY room at the hotel boasts a stunning sea view from its private balcony. There's no such thing as a bad room! The rooms on the top floor are often preferred because they offer a higher sea view over the native Balearic pine trees. Essentially, all the rooms are the same, but if you book early, we'll assign you a room starting from the top floor if requested but many also love the lower rooms.
WHO CAN ATTEND?
This festival is an adults-only event. All guests must be 18 years or older; however, teenagers aged 15-17 are permitted if accompanied by a parent or legal guardian.
You can belong to any BJJ/Yoga affiliation, practice, school, or discipline; it doesn't matter, everyone is welcome. If you've never practiced Yoga or BJJ before, don't worry! There will be introductory classes for both, making this the perfect immersion into a new art form.
WHAT IS THE WEATHER LIKE?
Late October is a wonderful time to visit Mallorca, especially in the sunnier southern part where the Gran Melia de Mar is located. The average high air temperature is expected to be 22°C (73°F) with ample sunshine. The sea temperature will typically be around 24°C (75°F). It's recommended to have a long-sleeved shirt, light jacket, or hoodie for the cooler moments before sunrise or after sunset. Packing a light jacket or hoodie is advisable, and we'll also have festival hoodies for sale in the lobby!
WHERE DO THE SEMINARS TAKE PLACE?
The seminars are held on the hotel grounds, all just a short walk from your room. We offer a variety of venues: a large BJJ Hall, three small to medium yoga rooms, a spacious outdoor yoga area by the sea, an open-air terrace for anytime open mats, shaded areas under trees for acro yoga, a secluded cove for freediving access, and several other spaces.
HOW MUCH IS IT?
Prices vary based on availability and the time of booking. For current rates, click the "BOOK NOW" button
INTERESTED IN AN INSTALLMENT PLAN?
Yes, you have that option! Depending on when you book, you can make an initial deposit to reserve your spot and then make scheduled monthly payments leading up to the festival. For more details, consult the 'BOOK NOW' page or reach out to us via email.
ARE KIDS ALLOWED?
Yes and no. The festival takes place at the adults-only 5-star Gran Melia de Mar, just on the edge of Palma. So, kids aged 15-17 booked with their parents or legal guardian can stay on location.
CAN I COME TO THE FESTIVAL BUT STAY SOMEWHERE ELSE?
Yes, you can, but note that the weekly non-stay ticket plus another hotel accommodation won't save you much money. Plus, depending on hotel stay guest capacity there may not be many non-stay tickets available.
I'M A SINGLE GUEST, BUT LOOKING TO SAVE MONEY BY DOUBLING UP IN A TWIN ROOM. IS THIS POSSIBLE?
Great idea! If you can't bring a friend to share, then we'll find you a same-sex roommate; we have a list going already. Simply book a twin/double room and select only one participant, entering your details. In the notes section, mention you're looking to share. If we can't find a roommate for you, you'll have the room to yourself at no extra cost.
CAN I COME TO THE FESTIVAL AND STAY LESS THAN 5 DAYS?
You can always leave early, but we're only offering tickets for the full 5-day experience. Take the full 5 days—you won't regret it! If you want to stay an extra +- 3 days before or after the event, you can book those extra nights during the booking process.
WHAT’S THE FOOD SITUATION?
As long as you're a hotel guest, your ticket includes breakfast every morning and the opening night (23rd Oct ) and closing night (27th) dinner. Both consist of paella, tapas, salads, seafood, vegetables, and more, served outdoors by the yang pool buffet style. Both dinners include wine, beer, soda, bottled water, coffee, and tea from 1930-2100. This leaves the middle three dinners and all lunches up to you. The hotel offers various menu options at its restaurants and bars. Being a 5-star establishment, prices will be higher, but you can expect amazing food. However, you have other options for all budgets. You can exit the hotel and dine at many cafes and restaurants in the Cas Catala/San Agustin area, where you can find dishes like vegetable or meat empanadas for as little as €1.50 each, Thai food, Spanish classics under €10 a plate, or a gourmet burger or wrap for €7 to take away. If you opt for takeaway or buy snacks/food at the local grocery, please eat them in your room, enjoying the sea view on your terrace. For budget-conscious attendees, there's a Spar grocery nearby, and your room has a fridge.
I HAVE NEVER PRACTICED BJJ / YOGA BEFORE. IS IT FOR ME?
At Mallorca BJJ & Yoga Festival, you'll find classes for all people at all levels. Both disciplines are suitable for anyone, regardless of shape, size, age, fitness, or flexibility. Your practice can be tailored to your level, with beginner classes available each day. 2019, 22, and 23 saw many Yogis trying BJJ for the first time and BJJ players exploring yoga. Step outside your comfort zone and try something new!
I WANT TO BRING MY PARTNER BUT THEY ARE NOT INTO BJJ OR YOGA, CAN THEY STILL COME?
Yes! There's so much more to do at our 5-star seaside hotel, which boasts two swimming pools and excellent service. They can enjoy free aqua sports, delightful food, or simply relax. However, they'll need to pay the standard rate.
WHAT SHOULD I WEAR TO PRACTICE A NEW STYLE?
If trying BJJ for the first time, you don't need to buy a gi immediately. Introductory classes accept both gi and no-gi students. Wear shorts or yoga pants and a t-shirt. For BJJ, ensure short nails and remove any jewelry. If you're a BJJ player trying yoga, wear your usual no-gi kit and leave your mobile phone outside the yoga studio.
HOW IS THIS DIFFERENT FROM A YOGA RETREAT?
As a festival, expect non-stop activities in the form of classes, workshops, and seminars. Instead of retreating, immerse yourself and absorb the energy from everyone present.
I ENJOY QUIET PRACTICE. WILL THIS BE TOO LOUD FOR ME?
The festival doesn't primarily have a big party atmosphere. While it's a health-based festival, some guests do enjoy a glass or two of vino or cerveza. However, most of our guests tend to retire early. The magic happens in the morning as the sun rises, and by day's end, rest beckons. That said, the closing night often turns into a fun gathering as everyone becomes familiar. Overall, it's a quiet and peaceful event. The music on the opening and closing nights leans towards Latin acoustic.
SHOULD I GET TRAVEL INSURANCE?
We highly recommend travel insurance. It's an active holiday, so protect yourself! Ensure your policy covers trip cancellations, as festival payments become non-refundable as the date approaches. For Fall 2024 the date monies become non-refundable is 20th of July, 2024. Before that, fully refundable.
DO I NEED TO BRING MY OWN YOGA MAT?
If it's convenient, bring your favorite mat. We'll provide a basic yoga mat and blocks free of charge.
HOW WILL I BE SPENDING MY DAYS AT MALLORCA BJJ & YOGA FESTIVAL?
The choice is entirely yours! You have the freedom to engage as much or as little as you desire. Whether you want to practice throughout the day or relax by the pool or on the beach, the options are limitless. We'll establish a festival app for attendees, offering a platform to coordinate trips into Palma or explore other parts of the island with fellow festival-goers. It's an excellent opportunity to forge new friendships.
WHERE DO I DO MY LAUNDRY?
We offer a laundry service that arrives every morning at 09:00 to collect laundry and ensures its return by 18:00 the same day. This service will commence on the morning of October 24th and will make its last delivery at 18:00 on the 27th. If you practice BJJ, it's advised to have a fresh Gi daily and to pack at least 2 Gis. The pricing for this laundry service is yet to be confirmed, but as a reference, the 2023 Festival charged €20 per 14kg. Pro tip: Share your laundry bag for significant savings! All Gis are washed in cold water and air-dried. Also, don´t let the hotel wash your clothes unless you want to get…. rinsed on the price!
CAN I STAY FOR EXTRA DAYS?
Yes, you can directly book extra days with the hotel both before and after the festival. You can do this as an add-on cost via our WeTravel booking system.
