Roger Gracie: The Legend Himself
Roger Gracie, born on September 26, 1981, is the son of Reila Gracie and Mauricio Gomes, both prominent figures in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. Raised in the Gracie tradition, Roger initially trained in BJJ during his youth but fully committed to the sport in his late teens, inspired by his uncle Rilion Gracie. Alongside his uncle Carlos Gracie Junior and cousin Renzo Gracie, Roger honed his skills, laying the foundation for his remarkable career.
Displaying an innate talent for BJJ, Roger swiftly rose through the ranks, securing numerous championships, including the Pan Ams and the Mundial, while still a blue belt. A pivotal moment came when he relocated to London, where he continued his training under his father’s guidance and maintained a connection with his uncle Carlinhos in Rio de Janeiro.
In 2004, Roger attained his black belt from Carlinhos, a year before achieving a historic victory at ADCC, where he triumphed in both his weight class and the absolute division, submitting all 8 opponents – an unprecedented achievement in the sport.
In MMA, Roger’s debut saw him submit veteran Ron Waterman, followed by victories over Japanese legend Yuki Kondo and renowned fighter Kevin Randleman. Despite his MMA success, Roger continued to dominate in BJJ, securing his 14th Mundials title shortly after his third world absolute victory, further solidifying his status as a legend in both sports.
Ffion Eira Davies
Ffion Davies is a Welsh grappler and a Brazilian jiu-jitsu (BJJ) black belt under Darragh O’Conaill, who is widely regarded as one of the top featherweight competitors of her generation. A judo player for the Wales National Team during her junior years, Davies made a name for herself in the world of BJJ through her many important wins in the International Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Federation (IBJJF) circuit, while representing the East Coast Jiu-Jitsu Academy (ECJJA).

Diego Pato Oliveira
Diego Oliveira Batista, commonly known as Diego “Pato”, is a Brazilian jiu-jitsu black belt under Cicero Costha, who worked extensively with coach Nabil Abdel Aziz. Originally from the Brazilian state of Amazonas, Diego made a name for himself in the sport of BJJ by competing for the São Paulo based team Projeto Social Lutando Pelo Bem (PSLPB), a time when he conquered important titles in the International Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Federation (IBJJF) circuit, including the World, Pan, and Brazilian National Championships.
He is currently proud to be a part of the Art of JiuJitsu academy of the Mendes brothers based in California.

Danielle Kelly is an American submission grappler and Brazilian jiu-jitsu black belt who is currently the ONE Champion at atomweight. She has wins over IBJJF World Champion Jessa Khan, Roxanne Modafferi, Cynthia Calvillo and the former UFC Women’s Strawweight Champion Carla Esparza. She is the current and inaugural ONE Women’s Atomweight Submission Grappling World Champion.

Espen Mathiesen is a Norwegian athlete in the sport/martial art of Brazilian jiu-jitsu and a black belt under José Carlos of Kimura – Nova Uniao. Mathiesen became one of the top grappling competitors in Europe while going through the ranks of BJJ in the International Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Federation (IBJJF) circuit, there Espen conquered medals in important tournaments such as the World, Pan American, and European Open Championship as well as the prestigious Copa Pódio Grand Prix.

Rayron Gracie
Rayron Gracie is a jiu-jitsu athlete and a member of the Gracie Family, arguably the most important family in the history of this martial art, belonging to the 4th generation of the clan’s production of outstanding combat sports competitors. Rayron was officially promoted to the black belt rank by his cousin, Kyra Gracie (June 2023), but also worked extensively with a number of the family’s legendary members such as Renzo, Rolles, Igor, Gregor, and Roger Gracie. Rayron Gracie first made waves in the sport while successfully competing on the International Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Federation (IBJJF) circuit, particularly in the gi (kimono) ruleset.

Yes! We have classes with and without GI. You will just have a little bit more free time to enjoy the Yoga classes or the side activities on the island.
